Peru- which is pronounced ‘Pe-ru’, is situated in Western South America. It is border lined on the north of Columbia and Ecuador, on the east of Brazil and to the south of Chile and the west side is the Pacific Ocean.
Peru territory was once owned by the Norte Chico Civilization, one of the oldest in the world and to the Inca Empire it was the largest state in Pre-Columbian America. The Spanish Empire conquered the region in the 16th century, which included most of it’s South American colonies.
Divided into 25 regions, Peru is now a representative democratic republic and it’s geography varies from the arid plains of the Pacific Coast to the peaks of the Andes Mountains across to the tropical rainforest’s of the Amazon.
It is a country that is considered to be developing at a Medium level with it’s poverty level around 40%.
Mining, agriculture, and producing products as well as fishing are high on the agenda for employment in Peru.
28 million people make up Peru lifestyle with many cultures combined. Asians, Africans and Europeans make up a good portion of their population. The main spoken language is Spanish although they are well known to know many other native languages with cultures blending all the time.
Art, cuisine, literature and other modern cultures are making this country a more diverse place to visit and reside in each year as more and more cultures blend together to make Peru a superbly interesting place to want to visit.
